It took me lots of time to install the GPU drivers, so I recorded the steps here. My laptop is Acer Aspire 5820TG with Intel Core i5-460M CPU and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 GPU.
- First, make sure the graphics option in BIOS is “switchable.”
- Download the Intel graphics driver according to your CPU/GPU, and install it.
- Restart the computer and change the graphics option in BIOS to “discrete.”
- Download the AMD Driver Autodetect, and install. It will install the latest driver and catalyst control center. Note that if you did not change the BIOS graphics option to “discrete,” it will be unable to find the GPU on your computer.
- Restart the computer and change the graphics option in BIOS to “switchable.” Now, if it succeeds, you are able to switch the graphic cards in the right-click menu. That’s all.
